Are you licensed in Colorado?

Yes.  I am a licensed Psychologist in Colorado.

You can visit the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies to verify my license.

Who do you see in therapy?

I see individuals (adolescent and adults), couples and families.

How long are the sessions?

The initial session is two hours long and subsequent visits are 50 minutes long.

How often will we meet?

Most clients meet for weekly sessions, at least initially. Some then choose to come every other week or even once a month depending on their needs.

What issues do you address in therapy?

My practice focuses primarily on individuals and relatives of individuals who present issues related to and/or coping with a chronic illness, chronic pain, and other medical issues.  Regardless of the presenting problem or situation, I see every individual from five distinct views:

Often these areas intertwine and each needs to be addressed, yet I look for the core issue and from this vantage point, I begin the journey to help overcome life’s challenges to reach their goal.

Do you see individuals without health-related issues?

Yes, I also specialize in individuals dealing with anxiety, grief and loss, phase of life issues and adjustment issues.

What about confidentiality?

I am required by law to keep anything that you tell me confidential with a few legal exceptions such as child abuse or the danger of suicide. I will review these issues and the possible exceptions with you at the initial session.

Will Dr. Weitzenfeld prescribe medications?

No, I am a doctor of psychology, not a medical doctor. If we decide that medication might be helpful, I can refer you to a medical doctor or psychiatrist to prescribe any medication you might need.

Why don’t you accept insurance?

I don’t accept insurance primarily to protect your confidentiality.  When there is a third-party payer, that company has the ability to request session information and notes from our sessions.  These notes are otherwise confidential.
